WHAT’S M.A.C.Y. ALL ABOUT?
Mentor A Caregiving Youth (M.A.C.Y.) is our agency mentoring program specifically designed for our caregiving youth. A mentor is a caring adult who devotes time to a young person. A mentor is a friend, a resource, an advisor or coach, someone a child can talk to and ask questions when they need guidance or advice.
Our mentors are paired with mentees of the same gender and spend at least four hours per month with their mentee. Mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals. Mentors can meet their mentees at school, the library, at home, or other mutually agreed upon location.
Potential mentors are CAREFULLY SCREENED before being matched and are provided orientation to the agency as well as training to learn about the program guidelines and expectations. There will also be some opportunities for group activities with other mentors and their mentees.
Who mentored you? Pay it forward!
Only an hour or two of your time can change a person's life!
